Mission Statement

AVIP is a community of professionals dedicated to advancing the industry and science of vapor intrusion. The purpose of this association is to promote the establishment of accepted and recognized best practices for vapor intrusion professionals, provide contextual knowledge, and serve as a resource of information for the general public.

About Us

AVIP is all about bringing together professionals who are passionate about making our indoor spaces healthier.  We're here to share knowledge and insights about air quality, focusing on things like gasses and compounds that can affect our environment.  Our goal is to be a one-stop resource for technology, guidance, standards, credentialing and best practices.   We want to help everyone understand why indoor air quality is crucial for a healthier life.

AVIP is focused on volatile organic compounds, methane, sulfur, and metallic gasses, such as mercury.  Initially, four categories of resource services have emerged: assessment, design, mitigation and continued stewardship (OM&M).

AVIP invites individuals to join as members in different specialty fields and welcomes companies as affiliate members.  In the future, we plan to introduce certifications for testing and fixing air quality issues.  These certifications, available for specialists and technicians, will involve education, training, exams, and ongoing learning.  AVIP will base its standards on established guidelines from organizations like AARST, ITRC, state and federal agencies, WHO, and others.  Our aim is to ensure high-quality practices and keep up with the latest industry standards.

In summary, the AVIP:

• Seeks to serve as the lead organization advancing the profession, science and industry of vapor intrusion;
• Will create opportunities for the collaborative exchange of information and ideas for the advancement of the industry and science of vapor intrusion;
• Will sponsor, host and/or participate in events and activities that promote the advancement and continuation of the vapor intrusion industry;
• Will provide credentialing and educational services to those members of the vapor intrusion community who meet appropriate criteria;
• Will, at such times as may be necessary, to engage in lobbying local, state and federal bodies, agencies and offices concerning ordinances, regulations, guidance or statues germane to accomplishing its purpose.
